My Wolf

At dawn as each star wanes in light
a yellow-gem-eyed wolf cries
beneath my bed

his deep feral breath—I howl back
we are intimate, an ache in sun’s early light

for you my wolf I touch my feet to the floor

My Wolf

At dawn as each star wanes in light

               a yellow-gem-eyed wolf cries

                               beneath my bed

his deep feral breath—I howl back

we are intimate, an ache in sun’s early light

for you my wolf I touch my feet to the floor
