Gambler

I live in a cabin on a lake where
the weather is always petulant.
My tabby cat stretches in a chair.
We have great conversations.
Keep going, keep going, keep going
he says.

I am a risk-taker. At cards
I lose down to my underwear.
I measure how I will stay in my panties.
Keep going.

I hear a robin outside, inside,
making a sound of green,
his beak wriggles a worm.
This is what really matters.
